Hub finally opens

-

Low cost community centre Warragul Hub will open to the public from next Thursday.

The opening has been delayed just over a year to enable changes, mainly internal, to comply with building regulations for such a facility.

The Hub is a project undertaken by a number of Christian churches in Warragul and Drouin.

The conversion of the former commercial/industrial building at the corner of June Crt and North, Road, Warragul, initially cost $150,000 with much of the labour contributed by volunteers.

The additional works required have added significantly to that cost.

The centre contains a Crazy Cow children’s activity centre, mini golf, counselling and meeting rooms, facilities for social gatherings and seminars, a play area and café.

Spokesperson Julie Bellingham said people were welcome to “come along and have a look” from Thursday and volunteers would staff the playground to enable parents and carers some time out to have a coffee and a chat.

She said the Hub would be open six days a week.

A main objective was for the facility to become debt free as soon as possible so that any future profits could be used for church mission projects.

An official opening of the Hub is scheduled for Saturday, May 12.
