Place names per­son sought

A new com­mu­nity rep­re­sen­ta­tive is be­ing sought for Baw Baw shire’s place names ad­vi­sory com­mit­tee.

Long serv­ing mem­ber Mal­colm Dick­son of War­ragul has stood down from the com­mit­tee which is com­prised of four shire coun­cil­lors and up to five com­mu­nity mem­bers.

Mem­bers are ap­pointed for four-year terms that co­in­ci­dence with coun­cil elec­tions.

Mr Dick­son’s re­place­ment would serve un­til the next coun­cil elec­tions to be held in Novem­ber 2020.

The com­mit­tee pro­vides ad­vice to coun­cil on names for streets, roads, re­serves and other fea­tures.

In­ter­ested ap­pli­cants are asked to de­tail any cul­tural or his­tor­i­cal groups with which they are in­volved or have a con­nec­tion to.

Ap­pli­ca­tions close on Fri­day, Septem­ber 14, and more in­for­ma­tion is avail­able from the shire on 5624 2411.
