Warragul & Drouin Gazette - - ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT -

An array of colourful, exotic and spectacular orchids will be on display in Drouin this weekend.

West Gippsland Orchid Club members will display orchids they have cultivated throughout the year at the Drouin Anglican Church Hall during the club’s annual spring show.

Other features of the show will be potting demonstrations, sales of orchid plants as well as availability of members to discuss cultivation, problems and give orchid-related growing hints for the West Gippsland area.

Plants will be formally judged by Orchid Societies Council of Victoria judges prior to the show opening to the public. They will certainly have a big job, with a significant number of orchids to compare.

Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy perusing the orchid-filled hall, chat to the growers and glean information about orchid cultivation from experienced growers. Photography is also encouraged.

West Gippsland Orchid Club has been actively operating since 1987 and has members from Bairnsdale to Pakenham.

New members are always welcome. Details can be found at the show.

The show will be held on Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 4pm.

Entry is $5 for adults and free for children.
