Funds for polocrosse
Trafalgar Polocrosse Club members representing Victoria at the Australian National Polocrosse Championships have received Baw Baw Shire sponsorship.
Council has allocated $500 to each of the eight club members representing Victoria. The sponsorship is available through council’s community funding assistance program.
In a submission to council, the club said its members were represented in all age groups including under 12s, under 16s, under 21s, men’s and women’s teams.
The national championships are being held in Perth this month.
Cr Jessica O’Donnell said it was a great achievement for the club to be sending so many players to represent Victorian teams.
She said the cost of travel and horse transport for the competitors was quite significant and the $500 per player would assist players in meeting those costs.
Cr Peter Kostos said the Trafalgar Polocrosse Club, which had been operating for 61 years was a “very unassuming club” and very active in the state’s polocrosse competition.
He said it was a significant achievement for the local players from all around the shire to be competing at a national championships.
