Oaks Day fun at Neerim South

Warragul & Drouin Gazette - - NEWS -

The women of Gippsland no longer have to go all the way to Flemington to take part in the fashion and fun of the Spring Racing Carnival.

To celebrate Oaks Day, traditionally “Ladies’ Day”, the annual “Oakstravaganza” luncheon will be held at Algie Hall in Neerim South on Thursday, November 8 from 12noon to 4pm.

The theme of the afternoon is “Dress to Impress”. This can either be high fashion or novelty.

Features of the day will be fashions on the field, a novelty quiz, sweeps on several races, lots of prizes and a great raffle. Entertainment will be provided by a special mystery activity.

Fashions on the field categories include best op shop outfit and novelty hat. Women are encouraged to scour local op shops for outfits and/or accessories.

A three-course luncheon is provided, with champagne, wine and soft drinks for the nondrinkers.

The afternoon is set to be a wonderful social opportunity for women who work hard to keep the local community alive to come together for some fun and relaxation. Why not get your friends together and book a table?

Tickets are $25 each and are available from St John’s Op Shop, Neerim South; or you can book and pay at the door.

As seating is limited, reserve tickets by calling Sue on 5626 7067 or Margery on 5628 1014.
