Learn about animal nutrition and support national farmer health group
ADVANTAGE Feeders, in partnership with Lienerts Austalia, is hosting a series of workshop events Making More Profit from Beef and Sheep across Queensland from June 13-16.
Locations include Toowoomba, Surat, Mundubbera and Rockhampton.
“There is a great opportunity for potential to increase productivity from the work that a number of different groups in our industry are working on,” Advantage Feeders managing director Gerard Roney said.
“Current beef and lamb prices combined with relatively low supplement costs have meant that there hasn’t been a better time to benefit from growing more meat.”
Alastair Rayner, Principal of Rayner Ag joins the roadshow as guest speaker and will share his extensive knowledge of balancing nutrition and beef production.
A focus of his presentation will be on the best ways to background weaners and the cost benefit of this exercise.
Advantage Feeders has been conducting trials to compare quantities of supplement required with different feeding methods and how pasture utilisation can be increased to lower consumption and increase stocking rates during the feed gap.
“We will also be discussing what creep feeding is and what this does for farmers. It is a system now having wide spread use in Australia,” Mr Roney said.
Shane Nicholson from Lienerts will explain the work they have been doing on Nutrigenomics and how this increases animal performance.
He will also discuss how pasture utilisation can be improved through supplementation and balanced nutrition.
“All presentations will be providing practical information covering nutrition, supplement feeding strategies and beef and sheep production,” Mr Roney said.
“Having engaged guest speakers of such high calibre will further guarantee that attendees get a lot out of the investment in half a day of their time.”
The sessions will be held from 8.30am to 12.30pm.
All money received will be donated to the National Centre for Farmer Health.
“For people that aren’t familiar with this organisation, they do a lot of terrific work to help farmers going through tough times and provide financial and physical guidance,” Mr Roney explained.
