Twist on a tasty trifle
AN EASY weeknight dinner. This is also particularly nice re-heated the next day for lunches or on toast for breakfast.
One dish and no sides required!
Make up a savoury mince however you desire, I just fry a chopped onion, teaspoon of garlic, mince and add in two cups of thick gravy.
Let cool slightly, pour into a glass bowl, or trifle bowl and tip half a bag of frozen peas over the mince, making it layered on top.
Then grate about four carrots, lay on top of peas.
Add a cup or two of grated cheese to mashed potato (about 6 potatoes) and some butter and cream, or however you make your regular mash.
Layer again on top of the carrot. Then top with fresh or dried shallots and a small slice of tomato. You can be as creative as you like.
Now it’s ready to serve.
