Top bulls go un­der ham­mer for $18,000

NEW and fa­mil­iar faces gath­ered to form a large crowd at­tend­ing the 13th An­nual New Di­men­sion Braford Bull and Female Sale at Bell Show­grounds re­cently.

Long-time supporters of the braford breed, Arthur and Vanessa Bam­bling, from Gayn­dah opened the sale.

Braford bulls sold for a top price of $18,000 on two oc­ca­sions.

Both bulls were of­fered by the Amor fam­ily Carinya stud at Du­lacca, and were pur­chased by the Meek fam­ily Car­gara Cat­tle Co at Au­gathella.

Building on its rep­u­ta­tion for be­ing the braford breed’s largest multi-ven­dor female sale, reg­is­tered braford fe­males sold for a top price of $5000.

The heifer, 19-month-old Carinya 2849, of­fered by John and Jackie Amor of “Carinya” stud at Du­lacca, was bought by Ste­wart An­der­son of “Dev­ils Nest” Theodore, bid­ding on the phone.

The pro­ceeds from this heifer were do­nated to the Royal Fly­ing Doc­tor Ser­vice.

The top price in the younger por­tion of the reg­is­tered fe­males sec­tion (12 months and un­der) of $3250 was paid for Lot 55 Ashby Marissa, of­fered by the Dono­van Fam­ily of Ashby stud, Jim­bour.

It was bought by Lind­say and Lenore Ruhle, Lin­lora Braford stud at Al­lora.

Nine qual­ity com­mer­cial fe­males were of­fered by three ven­dors.

Craig and Kathy Knauth Nungil Brafords at Bry­ma­roo of­fered three fe­males to av­er­age $1533.

Max and Dorn Rod­dau, Limevale Brafords at Dalby, of­fered three fe­males to av­er­age $933.

Robert and Le­sette Hoff­man Down­fall Creek Brafords at Gu­luguba of­fered three fe­males to av­er­age $1500.

Over­all, there were 14 braford bulls sold to a top of $18,000 and an av­er­age of $7571, with a 74% clear­ance.

35 reg­is­tered braford fe­males sold to a top of $5000, with an av­er­age of $2400 and a 98% clear­ance.

Nine com­mer­cial braford fe­males sold to a top of $1600, with an av­er­age of $1190 and a 100% clear­ance. Ven­dor’s sale re­sults:

■ John and Jackie Amor, Carinya, Du­lacca, - four Bulls for an av­er­age of $16 000,

■ 10 Reg­is­tered Fe­males for an av­er­age of $3025.

■ Dono­van Fam­ily Ashby, Jim­bour – three bulls for an av­er­age of $6333, and 10 reg­is­tered fe­males for an av­er­age of $2025.

■ Robert and Le­sette Hoff­man Down­fall Creek, Gu­luguba - two reg­is­tered fe­males for an av­er­age of $1625 and three com­mer­cial fe­males for an av­er­age of $1500.

■ Craig and Kathy Knauth, Nungil, Bry­ma­roo, three com­mer­cial fe­males for an av­er­age of $1533.

■ Ben­nett Fam­ily – Lit­tle Val­ley, Casino – two bulls for an av­er­age of $3500, and two reg­is­tered fe­males for an av­er­age of $3250.

■ McNa­mara Fam­ily, Strath­gyle, Bell, - three bulls for an av­er­age of $3333, and five reg­is­tered fe­males for an av­er­age of $2050.

■ Neil Pa­cholke, Sun­ny­lawn, Clifton - one bull for $3000.

■ Max and Dorn Rod­dau, Limevale, Dalby, three com­mer­cial fe­males for an av­er­age of $933.

■ Rhonda Ryan, Banyula, Emer­ald – four reg­is­tered fe­males for an av­er­age of $2125

■ Scott and Veron­ica Sk­er­man, Rar­camba, Wan­doan – one bull for $3000, and two reg­is­tered fe­males for an av­er­age of $2500.
