Vic buyers drawn to santa sale
BUYERS at the Yulgilbar santa gertrudis annual production sale last Friday came from a wider geographical area than in previous years, station manager Rob Sinnamon said.
“They came from as far south as Tullamarine in Victoria, out west to Bourke and as far north as Nebo,” Mr Sinnamon said, adding that the buyers were drawn by Yulgilbar’s recent successes at steer and carcass competitions sales around the country.
Yulgilbar Station, Baryulgil, saw more than 400 people attend the sale at its recently completed multi-function complex at Broadwater, overlooking the Clarence River.
The event was streamed live online with internet bidding for the first time.
Offered were 100 santa gertrudis and sangus bulls, 21 poll stud females and 150 PTIC commercial sangus heifers.
Sale averages improved a further $500 per head on last year’s record sale, with nine new sire lines being represented in the sale draft.
The day’s top price of $30,000 was for Lot 6 Yulgilbar Las Vegas, by the new sire Yarrawonga Drover (Reserve Junior Champion bull RNA 2014 and purchased for the top price of $46,000 that year).
