Get 10 free trees at Kil­coy

SOM­ER­SET res­i­dents are be­ing en­cour­aged to take ad­van­tage of Som­er­set Re­gional Coun­cil’s sec­ond free tree-dis­tri­bu­tion day at Kil­coy.

The free tree-dis­tri­bu­tion day is be­ing held at As­ton Park at Kil­coy on Satur­day from 8-11am.

Land for Wildlife par­tic­i­pants and res­i­dents who live on prop­er­ties larger than 20 acres are en­ti­tled to 10 free trees upon pre­sen­ta­tion of their Free Tree Voucher and a cur­rent rates no­tice.

Plants pro­vided for Land for Wildlife par­tic­i­pants and prop­er­ties larger than 20 acres will be na­tive trees ap­pro­pri­ate for re-veg­e­ta­tion and habi­tat plant­ings, with a par­tic­u­lar fo­cus on koala trees.

Som­er­set Re­gional Coun­cil Mayor Graeme Lehmann en­cour­aged all res­i­dents to take ad­van­tage.

“The free tree days are an in­cen­tive for res­i­dents to en­joy the great out­doors and help the en­vi­ron­ment by plant­ing trees in their back­yard,” Cr Lehmann said.

“Res­i­dents will also get an­other op­por­tu­nity on Oc­to­ber 21 at Pipeliner Park at Esk to claim their free trees.”
