Warwick Daily News - - NEWS - Elyse Wurm

THE sound of rain on the roof isn’t disappearing any time soon as a wet weekend lies ahead for Warwick.

Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Aditi Sharan said an upper trough was causing the rainfall today and later in the weekend.

“On Saturday there is a high chance of showers and rain, mostly in the eastern Darling Downs area, which includes Warwick,” she said.

“We can expect showers on Sunday.”

Between 5 and 10mm of rain is expected to fall today and tomorrow in Warwick.

Miss Sharan said there was also a chance of storms in Warwick today, but they were unlikely to be severe.

More severe storms are expected to hit the northern Darling Downs area, which have already been affected by wild weather this week.

Anyone going to the races might want to rug up for the occasion, as Warwick is expected to reach a top of a measly 18 degrees today.

Temperatures will climb to just 21 degrees tomorrow, well below the October average temperature of 26.

Winds will continue blowing easterly at about 25–35km/h, decreasing to about 15km/h today.

The chance of rain remains high into the start of next week, with up to 4mm predicted to fall on Monday and up to 6mm on Tuesday and Wednesday.
