TWO RICCIARDOS ON WORLD TRACKS

Weekend Courier - - Driveway -

WHILE Daniel Ricciardo was driving his Red Bull Renault on the Spielberg circuit in the Austrian Grand Prix, his dad was also at the wheel of a racing car: a superb little Formula Junior Brabham BT6 at Barbagallo Raceway.

Dan came in third in Austria, and dad Joe ran sixth in the Formula Classics – pretty impressive considering that at 1100cc, his car had the smallest engine in the field of 15.

The state championship meeting had some good racing in other classes, the Hyundai Excels particularly entertaining with their cut-and-thrust action.

Joshua Wood, Carlos Ambrosio and Brock McGregor filled the top three places in races 1 and 2, with Ambrosio winning the third heat from Dean Hill and Ryan McNess.

The spectacular F1000s had the same top three in the first two heats: Sam Dicker from Alex Barboutis and Adam Lisle, but Rob Appleyard was third in the final race. All drive Stohr cars.

Greg Barr dominated the Historics in his Torana XU-1, winning all three races, while Geoff Duckworth won the Under 2-litre class in his Honda.
