IT may have been delirium from the lack of sleep a mother of a six-monthold and three-year-old functions on, but Scottish performer Shona Reppe knows how to create a highly imaginative show.

The evidence is in her 2008 production Potato Needs A Bath, which she will present at Awesome International Arts Festival for Bright Young Things from October 3 to 7.

“I came up with the title after imagining a potato sitting in a bread tin being scrubbed with a toothbrush,” Reppe said from her home near Edinburgh.

“I was immersed in that world of bath time, feeding, nappies; it made sense to make a show around these familiar routines and I’ve toured it all over the world.

“It’s a tiny, gentle and fun play for three to five-year-olds (and their parents) about a lady and her fruit and vegetable friends.”
