Knife-point rob­bery charges

A MAN has been charged over the knife -point rob­bery of a deli on Parkin Street, Rock­ing­ham on Oc­to­ber 25.

Ap­pear­ing in cus­tody at Rock­ing­ham Mag­is­trates Court on Oc­to­ber 27, Dy­lan Ja­cob Greaves was charged with armed rob­bery, hav­ing no author­ity to drive, pos­ses­sion of drug para­pher­na­lia and steal­ing a mo­tor ve­hi­cle.

The pros­e­cu­tor al­leged that a man en­tered the deli at 8.10am on Oc­to­ber 25 hold­ing a 20cm bon­ing knife.

He fur­ther al­leged that he ap­proached the counter bran­dish­ing the knife at a fe­male staff mem­ber and ag­gres­sively de­manded that she hand over the money.

He said the man then be­gan mak­ing a stab­bing mo­tion at a chain that se­cured a donation tin and sev­er­ing it from its chain.

He at­tempted to sever an­other tin but was un­suc­cess­ful.

The pros­e­cu­tor fur­ther al­leged that the staff mem­ber handed over some money and the man then fled to a wait­ing X5 BMW.

He also al­leged be­fore the man fled, he turned to the staff mem­ber and said ‘sorry, love’.

The pros­e­cu­tor said Mr Greaves was ar­rested later that morn­ing when he was stopped by po­lice on Read Street in the stolen X5 BMW.

Po­lice ar­rested him on sus­pi­cion of the ear­lier rob­bery and the of­fence was cap­tured on CCTV.

Mr Greaves told Mag­is­trate Richard Hus­ton he wanted to or­gan­ise a lawyer. Mr Greaves was re­manded in cus­tody to reap­pear on Novem­ber 17.
