Officially the best
excellence in NSW on Saturday.
Mrs Wilson has been involved in surf lifesaving for 17 years.
She won the WA Official of the Year two years in a row and has held officiating positions at club, state and national levels.
She was described as a mentor for aspiring officials and a “truly inspiring image of surf sports”.
“My whole family is involved in surf lifesaving and the Secret Harbour Surf Life Saving Club,” she said.
“My husband Digby and I wanted our three children to be safer in the surf. So we joined the SHSLSC when our oldest was able to join, 17 years ago. I love the beach, the surf club and the association.”
Mrs Wilson said surf lifesaving had allowed her children to grow up in a nurturing environment and develop into young adults with a sense of community.
“Surf lifesaving has given me the opportunity to develop my own knowledge, skills and leadership, which I pass on through being a trainer, assessor and mentor,” she said.
“Mostly though I have gained many friends, not only locally but www.communitypix.com.au d476054 all over WA, interstate and internationally through my officiating.”
Mrs Wilson said it was a privilege to represent WA in Sydney.
“It was an absolute honour to be awarded with this national award for something I enjoy volunteering my time to and get the reward of spending time with my surf lifesaving family,” she said.
