Green funding

Weekend Courier - - Opinion -

COMMUNITY groups are invited to apply for funding to undertake tree planting projects as part of the Kwinana Greening Fund.

A State Government contribution has resulted in $95,000 in funding available to the community over three years for Kwinana-based projects.

The first round of funding is now open and closes June 1.

City of Kwinana Mayor Carol Adams encouraged local groups to apply for the funding.

“More trees equal more shade, lower temperatures and a better natural habitat for wildlife,” she said.

Groups are invited to apply for funding for planting trees in parks, reserves or natural areas.

The funds are also for planting street trees, or preserving or rehabilitating natural bushland.

Application forms are at www.kwinana.wa. gov.au/grants.
