Oz Day assault: Man charged
A ROCKINGHAM man has been charged over an assault at Waroona Dam on Australia Day.
The victims were woken by a loud disturbance at 11.45pm on January 26 at a campsite.
As they left their tents to investigate, police say they were assaulted by the man.
A 43-year-old man received serious injuries, including bleeding on the brain, a broken nose and lacerations and a 29-year-old man sustained a head wound, which required seven staples to close.
Fremantle detectives charged a 23-year-old Rockingham man as a result of extensive investigations into the assault.
The man has been charged with intent to harm, omitting to do any act that was the person’s duty to do or did an act as a result of which the life, health or safety of any person was or was likely to be endangered.
He is due to appear before the Mandurah Magistrates Court on May 18.
