Weekend Courier - - Sport -

ORELIA resident Daniel Choi represented WA in a week-long stint over east as part of the School Sport Australia Baseball Championship.

The Darling Range Sports College student flew to Adelaide with 17 other students from WA schools to attend the Championships from May 1 to 5, which were held at Adelaide Shores and Glenelg Baseball Club. WA finished fifth in a field of six teams. Choi, who played third base, pitcher and catcher, said his hard work paid off to land him a spot on the School Sport Australia state team.

“It was fun but I had to train really hard to get my position on the team,” he said.

“I have been playing baseball for around six years now and soon it will be my seventh.”

The Year 9 student said he had ambitions to play professional baseball one day.

“I hope to reach the (US) Major League one day. I want to play baseball as long as I can,” he said.
