AFTER living in Vancouver for three months, homeowners John and Julie Simpson wanted to create a Canadianinspired abode back home.

“My husband John and I spent a bit of time in Vancouver staying with our daughter who was living and working there,” Mrs Simpson said.

“When we came back to the Gold Coast the country style house had really grown on us and we wanted to build one for ourselves.”

The four-bedroom, four-bathroom house took the couple 12 months to build.

“We bought the block in 2012 and set to work on the bare block pretty quickly,” Mr Simpson said.

The couple said Tamborine Mountain was the perfect location for the style of house they wanted to build.

With American Oak floors and imported finishes from the US including the toilet roll holders, Mrs Simpson said she could not have imagined anything better.

“We had a local designer to help us, Bennett Design and Partners who are based on the mountain,” she said.

The couple’s design request included high ceilings, several outdoor sitting spaces and most importantly attention to detail.
