Gold Coasters leading enquiries at Mahala project
Mermaid Beach luxury apartment project Mahala is generating interest from Gold Coast buyers who live nearby and want a new apartment with two car bays
A GROWING number of Gold Coasters are reinvesting in their own backyard when it comes to downsizing.
Colliers International residential director Andrew Roubicek said locals had led sales enquiries for Pindan’s luxury Mahala apartment project at Mermaid Beach.
“We received in excess of 300 enquiries in the first three weeks for Mahala’s 94 two, three and four bedroom large owner occupier-style apartments, with interest predominantly stemming from residents in surrounding suburbs,” he said.
“Mahala received development approval in late July and now that early works have commenced, a lot of the interest has been from Gold Coasters who currently live nearby and want a brand new apartment with two car bays in a similar location.
“Mahala’s position overlooking Hedges Ave has strong appeal to purchasers — it gives them the opportunity to live alongside the Gold Coast’s Millionaire’s Row.
Pindan’s director of development management, Nick Allingame, said Mahala, created by Cottee Parker Architects, was a specifically tailored development for Mermaid Beach.
“We thought about why people choose to live in Mermaid Beach — what makes this area so special — and then we designed Mahala to match the suburb’s unique lifestyle offering,” he said.
“We have included surfboard storage, bike storage and even an outdoor shower area so residents can make the most of living within a short stroll of the surf and sand.
Apartments will feature ocean views of the ocean and Gold Coast city skyline, so Mahala’s beachside location has really had a major influence on its design.
“Part of the design process was imagining who would call Mahala home and how they would live in the building. Mermaid Beach has always been regarded as an exclusive residential enclave as opposed to a holiday hotspot, so Mahala has been designed to cater to owner occupiers.
Most apartments will have two car bays and offer large living spaces, basement storage and balconies.
Resident facilities include an entertainment terrace, pool, barbecues, cabana, lounge and private dining room.
Mahala is at 15 Peerless Ave, Mermaid Beach. Prices have not yet been released.
