Winning design in a league of its own

The elements are harnessed with dramatic effect inside this exemplary Sanctuary Cove home where walking on water is all part of the experience

IN a sun-drenched state where backyard pools are a must-have feature, designing Queensland’s best pool is no small feat.

The pool inside this Sanctuary Cove residence – awarded the state’s top gong in 2010 – is a feature in its own right.

Designed by award-winning Queensland architect Paul Clout Designs, the pool wraps around and through the centre of the house.

A transparent section creates the sense of walking on water as you cross from one wing to the other.

“This house really is in a league of its own,” said Ray White agent Matt Gates.

Facing north east on the banks of the

Coomera River, this luxurious home draws on the elements with dramatic effect.

The roof is raised on glass panels allowing light and air to flow freely inside while well-placed gas fire lamps add ambience as night falls.

“The use of curves also adds to the intrigue — there is nothing cookie cutter about this home,” said Mr Gates.

With the owners planning to downsize, the single level residence is ideal for a couple or family wanting space and privacy.

“I don’t know who this house wouldn’t suit,” quipped Mr Gates. “The standard of living on offer is exceptional.”
