Hopoate is given bail
FORMER rugby league bad boy John Hopoate was granted bail yesterday after spending the night behind bars following his latest fruit shop bust-up.
The notorious former NRL player, 42, appeared in Manly Local Court yesterday on charges of theft, intimidating Crows Nest shop owner Carmelo De Velli and contravening an AVO.
Hopoate spent Thursday night behind bars after the alleged confrontation.
The father of 10 has agreed to have an acceptable person lodge a $5000 surety if he breaches bail or fails to appear.
