Swans put Cats away
THE Sydney Swans have vaulted into the AFL grand final, making Geelong look second rate in the process at the MCG last night.
The Swans jumped out of the blocks, kicking seven unanswered goals in an opening term before turning the screws to win the preliminary final 15.7 (97) to 8.12 (60).
Geelong’s midfield maestros Patrick Dangerfield and Joel Selwood each had 39 disposals but were powerless to stop a Sydney outfit which is firing, despite taking the long road to the grand final after losing to the GWS Giants in week one of the finals before whipping Adelaide last weekend.
The Swans have a nervous wait with defender Aliir Aliir injuring his knee early, his night done by half-time.
