Gillett avoids shoulder op
MATT Gillett’s Four Nations hopes have been resurrected after the Brisbane back-rower was told he did not require shoulder surgery.
Gillett received the good news from a Brisbane specialist after scans revealed the Broncos forward did not have to go under the knife.
Gillett initially feared he would have to withdraw from the Kangaroos’ train-on squad just days after being added to it. He had been nursing the shoulder injury since the State of Origin series and was concerned it might required an end-of-season reconstruction.
“No surgery will be required for Matt,” Brisbane’s high performance manager Jeremy Hickmans said on the Broncos’ website.
