HOW many politicians, federal, state and local take advantage of the capital gains tax? ROSS WELLS, SOUTHPORT

IN early 2016 many streets in Tugun did not receive a letter drop for the kerbside clean-up so we missed out. There was also to be a collection at the end of the year and that did not happen.

I was told there was not enough money in the budget and division 14 will have to wait until late 2017.

We no longer have a tip at Tugun for the southern Gold Coast. Instead of all the unwanted trees planted on our footpaths I would have thought a kerbside clean-up would have been better. MAUREEN MASON, TUGUN

RE Ron Nightingale’s letter (Your Views, GCB, 23/2/17), there is a very good reason why ASF is questionable. Its last proposal for Wavebreak Island raised many questions that it failed to answer.

ASF failed time and again to deliver plans and answer questions posed by the Newman government and community groups. Also, you mention Mayor Tom Tate and how this proposed ASF development will open up more green space.

Why hasn’t Cr Tate carried these works out previously?

This development exceeds the maximum allowable building height for this area by more than 40 storeys. If this is to go ahead you can’t be so naive as to think more will not follow. RADISH, GOLD COAST

I WOULD like to refute a confusing message by Ron Nightingale (Your Views, GCB, 23/2/17).

None of the land claimed by ASF is zoned commercial. It is zoned community facilities.

The four lots and the road reserve involved do not have direct water access.

Part of one lot is under licence to Sea World for parking. The ASF drawings show the project as beachfront, with wharves and a marina.

To do this, ASF will take away the public beachfront, now used by boaties, and take out a seabed lease for the wharves and marina.

In the ASF “facts” it is claimed that the ASF development will not impact on the Broadwater.

More misinformation, smoke and mirrors for those who believe what is written by ASF. JOHN BURNS, SOUTHPORT

D. J. Fraser (Your Views, GCB, 22/2/17) refers to the poor wretches on Manus Island.

Does he want the rapist inmates accepted into Australia as well as their poor unfortunate victim? PETER STEVENS, AUCHENFLOWER
