tives out of last week,” Wallis said.

“I like the composure we showed and the guys played with a lot of freedom without being reckless. One thing we have spoken about is playing to the guys’ strengths.

“We know this will be a big test but I think we’re pretty well placed.”

If the Dolphins can topple University, it would inject a huge boost of confidence to potentially set up their season. The last time they defeated University, they went on to win the 2009-10 premiership.

Queensland all-rounder Michael Neser will miss the match with a hip injury sustained in a midweek Bulls trial.

His place will be taken by Max Houlahan – who only returned on Thursday from a season with English club Enfield – while gun batsman Nick Stevens will be skipper.

It is hoped Neser will be fit for Gold Coast’s home fixture against Redlands next week.

Damian Wallis.
