Pup won’t toe the line
FEELING a bit toey during AFL finals season is understandable but one former footy star’s family pet has taken it a step too far in a bizarre case of foot in mouth.
Hawthorn premiership player and former Suns recruit Campbell Brown has revealed gruesome photos on Twitter after a cheeky chihuahua chewed off his father-inlaw’s toe.
It was not the first time little Sabel had gone after Tom Johnston’s foot while he slept.
“He’s like a shark,’’ Brown said. “Once he got a taste for blood he couldn’t help but head back for more.’’
Mr Johnston is a diabetic and had lost feeling in his toes – meaning he didn’t initially wake while the dog had its midnight snack.
Sabel gnawed at his right toe two years ago but that didn’t seem to satisfy the pooch’s foot fetish.
This week he nibbled on the left toe, taking off so much flesh that his owner required an amputation and a skin graft.
Brown found it hard to stop laughing yesterday. “I’m just glad Tom doesn’t sleep naked because that could have been a real tragedy.”
