No wins, no worries for Aussie believers

- JIM TUCKER

THEY’VE won just two of their past eight games but Wallabies halfback Will Genia declared the team remains “unwavering” in their belief.

The wins, against lowly Fiji and Italy in June, have come amid losses to Ireland, England, Scotland and twice to New Zealand, as well as last week’s South Africa draw.

The form guide is worrying and old issues remain; the setpiece and breakdown security.

South Africa were particularly successful in disrupting Australia’s ball in Perth and Argentina will look to do the same tonight in Canberra after naming two specialist fetchers in their starting XV.

“A couple of things around our breakdown, that was the disappointing part of our game, we didn’t allow ourselves to get flow or momentum, and build pressure through building phases, so just the accuracy around that area,” Genia said.

“If you look back, making linebreaks and then turning the ball over straight away, that’s been a big focus for us. “And just staying in it. “The biggest thing I’ve enjoyed about this group is that regardless of whatever’s happening, whether it be outside noise or anything like that, the group still has an unwavering belief in what we’re trying to achieve.

“That’s something you can definitely see through training, and we’re obviously hoping to show that out on the field on Saturday.”

Argentina’s coach Daniel Hourcade is hoping to pull off an upset win over the Wallabies in Canberra and says to do so they will need to shut down the threats of Michael Hooper and Kurtley Beale.

After this match, the Wallabies will have a week off before a trip for the return matches against the Boks in Bloemfontein and Pumas in Mendoza.
