Weekend Gold Coast Bulletin - - NEWS -

THE track is on track.

As seen in these exclusive photos from within Carrara’s Metricon Stadium, the home of the Gold Coast Suns is fast becoming an athlete’s field of dreams as it undergoes its pre-Commonwealth Games transformation.

Contractor Cockram Constructions has begun laying the IAAF-certified track that will play host to some of the world’s best athletes next April.

“I was there yesterday and when you look at what was there before (compared to now), it’s an amazing transformation,” GOLDOC chief executive Mark Peters said.

“When we get that final seating in, it’s just going to be fantastic. It will bring it the stadium to life.

“The atmosphere and roar when we’ve got 35,000 people in there is going to be sensational.”

Metricon Stadium will host the Games opening and closing ceremonies, along with seven days of track and field competition.
