Classic toy flying high
THE humble paper aeroplane has finally been recognised.
The simple-to-create toy has been inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame in the US, joining previous inductees the dollhouse and the skipping rope.
The paper plane was joined by two others – the board game Clue and the Wiffle Ball – at a ceremony in Rochester.
To make the hall of fame, toys must have inspired creative play across generations.
Other playtime staples such as sand and the card game Uno, also made the finals.
Joining them were the board game Risk, Magic 8 Ball, Matchbox cars, My Little Pony and PEZ candy dispenser.
