THERE are con­cerns that Aus­tralians aren’t get­ting their eyes checked reg­u­larly for con­di­tions that can lead to blind­ness even though most fear los­ing their sight over los­ing a limb.

A sur­vey of more than 1000 Aus­tralians, com­mis­sioned by Guide Dogs NSW, found only half had vis­ited an op­tometrist in the past year, less than the amount of peo­ple that pri­ori­tised an an­nual car ser­vice (61 per cent).

Mil­len­ni­als were the worst of­fend­ers with less than a third (30 per cent) vis­it­ing an op­tometrist in the last year.
