HEAT IS ON AS TEMPERATURES SOAR
TEMPERATURES are set to soar to possible recordbreaking territory over the next week when an extended heatwave grips the Gold Coast.
A Weatherzone spokesman said temperatures inland could hit upwards of 38C from tomorrow – more than 10C above the usual February average.
The temperature at the Gold Coast Seaway is expected to reach 34C today and 35C tomorrow, with higher temperatures lasting most of next week.
Shylie Harrington, from Pimpama, will be cooling off with dog Luna at the beach this weekend trying to beat the heat.
“We love heading to the beach in the mornings before it gets too hot,” she said.
“But we’ll definitely be spending the afternoon inside in the airconditioning over the weekend, for sure.
“Luna loves hitting the beach for a swim to keep cool.”
