Jailed over freak death
A MELBOURNE woman has been jailed after driving at her abusive partner in a kindergarten car park and slamming into a sign that fell and killed him.
Jessie Donker, 31, pleaded guilty to manslaughter after the parking sign struck Richard Powell, 32, as it toppled and cleaved open his head at Sunbury in January 2017.
Donker had spent the night sleeping in her car at the car park, one of her regular “haunts” after being assaulted by Mr Powell. She was sentenced to five years in jail and must serve at least two years before being eligible for parole.
