Safer on a plane: Doc

Weekend Gold Coast Bulletin - - NATION -

A PERSON has a one in 400 chance of suffering a medical emergency while on a plane, according to new research.

But that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

Critical care doctor Catherine Epstein, who analysed inflight data for nearly 132,000 flights between 2015 and 2016, said planes were not the worst place to fall ill. “There is a defibrillator right there, there’s crew that are trained in first aid, CPR,” Dr Epstein said.
