CLOSING IN ON A ‘CURE’ FOR AGEING

Weekend Gold Coast Bulletin - - NEWS - AMBER MACPHERSON

AUSTRALIAN scientists are leading the global research to find a “cure” for ageing, with some saying a drug to prevent growing old is only 10-15 years away.

But Gold Coast woman Francesca Beresford, 56, isn’t waiting for science to make her young again – she’s doing it herself with exercise and weightlifting.

In today’s Gold Coast Eye magazine, we speak to developing treatments that can reprogram our genetic codes to live longer lives.

They say the era of putting up with ageing and the diseases that go with it is coming to an end. In the meantime, Dr Beresford is winding back her own body clock with a healthy diet and body building.

The Mermaid Waters dentist took up strength training four years ago and says she’s in better shape now than she was in her 20s.
