Re­searchers found med­i­tat­ing and work­ing out af­fect the same ar­eas of the brain but in dif­fer­ent ways. Ex­er­cise stim­u­lates brain-cell growth, while med­i­ta­tion helps neu­rons live longer. Med­i­tat­ing be­fore ex­er­cise in­creases fo­cus and boosts the feel-good ef­fects.
