There’s nothing like a major life event to inspire you to feel your best. In an ideal world we’d always strive to be at a healthy weight and place, but for many of us a deadline can be an amazing motivator. And research has shown over and over the power of motivation in the pursuit of weight loss.

Our cover star Andrea Salmeron (page 14) embodies this issue’s “big event” theme. Andrea is counting down to her wedding and she joined Weight Watchers to help her feel her best when she says “I do” later this year. Member Victoria Duncan shares how she got ready for her Vegas wedding and is now almost at Goal (page 28) and Julie Mendygral reveals how she lost 41.6kg (page 36).

For those of you etching a big life event into your calendar, we have tips to help you reach your goals. If you’re already there and want to celebrate, check out our cooking class for healthy choc-tops (page 94). Not a sweet tooth? We have almost 50 other great recipes.

Meanwhile, I’m writing this in Europe. This was a major life event and took three years’ planning. We’re here to see my eldest daughter, who is in Spain for a year. Knowing I would be faced with a bread, cheese and ham diet, I spent the months leading up to the trip vigilantly tracking. Now I’m here, I’m using our stories to ensure I don’t go too off track (I’ll share some holiday tips in the October issue). In the meantime, enjoy!
