Talk an insight into player’s past
IT was a quick trip to Perth for former AFL player and North Albury Football Club coach Jason Akermanis when he entertained a crowd at the annual zero2hero corporate lunch at Crown Perth last Friday.
The former Western Bulldog flew back to Melbourne that afternoon so he could be home in time to coach his team in their final game for 2014, which they won against the Myrtleford Alpine Saints.
Akermanis talked about how a blood clot found in his brain following a roller blading accident at 15 left him laid up for three months. He spoke fondly of his mum who died of cancer at the age of 41 and said her advice – “just tell the truth” – may have got him caught up in controversy on one or two occasions.
