Red flag for proposal
FINLAND’S representative in WA has been told to find a new place for his flag pole. Last week, Peppermint Grove Council told honorary Finnish consul Ross Norgard it rejected his proposed eight-metre pole to fly Australia’s and Finland’s flags close to the boundary of the honorary consulate at his Keane Street home. After the application was deferred because of a neighbour’s complaints in July, councillors agreed the pole was 2m higher than the limit in their draft flag pole policy and it would affect neighbours’ views. Mr Norgard was told the council would consider a new request for a six-metre pole on the Keane Street side of his property.
