Improvements on track
BETTER lighting for railway pedestrian crossings at Mosman Park’s Victoria Street and Cottesloe’s Napier Street are among a $2.4 million program announced during Rail Safety Week last month. Transport Minister Dean Nalder said the Public Transport Authority’s Crossing Improvement Program would allow technicians to be remotely alerted if there were any faults. More than 100,000 WA students had participated in presentations to stop unsafe and antisocial behaviour on and around trains. Another 32 crossings will be upgraded on rail lines south of Fremantle and to Midland, Joondalup, Armadale and Mandurah.
