PAIR CHARGED OVER COUN­TER­FEIT

IT will be in­ves­ti­gated if fake $50 notes used in Su­bi­aco bars and a newsagent in July are con­nected to an al­leged coun­ter­feit cur­rency racket, af­ter Kens­ing­ton De­tec­tives raided a River­vale ho­tel room last Thurs­day. It will be al­leged $6340 in $50 and $100 coun­ter­feits, and $2515 of gen­uine cur­rency, were in the room. The man and woman, both 32 and from Carlisle, were charged with pos­sess­ing and man­u­fac­tur­ing coun­ter­feits, hav­ing coun­ter­feit ma­chin­ery, fraud, pos­sess­ing am­phet­a­mine and pos­sess­ing stolen or un­law­fully ob­tained prop­erty. They were bailed to ap­pear in the Perth Mag­is­trates Court on Oc­to­ber 16.
