Artist to hold exhibition at place close to heart

TRESILLIAN Arts Centre in Nedlands is a special place for artist Valerie Glover, and not just for its exhibition space.

When Glover was a teenager, a doctor at the former Tresillian hospi- tal diagnosed her with appendicitis and rushed her in for an emergency operation.

So naturally, when Glover decided to hold exhibition LittleBitLongWay, she thought of Tresillian.

“It is an ideal place with very good memories for me,” Glover said.

Little Bit Long Way showcases 85 paintings in oils, acrylics and mixed media.

Glover said she was passionate about creating art that evoked memories of places and landscapes she had seen.

“I enjoy the challenge of combining theory with the practice of art,” she said.

“Be it the thrill of captured light or the power of primary and blended colours.” LittleBitLongWay is showing at Tresillian Arts Centre, 21 Tyrell Street, Nedlands from Friday, September 19 to Sunday, September 28.

Some patrons enjoy Lot 20.
