FESTIVAL’S SPIRIT WILL BE MISSED
REGULAR Subi Street Festival goers will have to find another way to get in to the Christmas spirit this year. While the decorations don’t focus on the anticipated holiday, it was the festive spirit the event’s ambience created that captured me every year. It generated $250,000 of in-kind sponsorship and went from attracting 20,000 people to 85,000 last year, when I ran in to two groups of friends – all out-of-towners. The streets crowded with food, entertainment and activities created unity and showed people what Subiaco was capable of. Fingers crossed the street festival returns next year in some capacity.
