Linking up in support
ABOUT 100 staff and patients from Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital joined hands this month to mark World Suicide Prevention Day - embracing the theme of ‘One World Connected’.
SCGH social work coordinator Richard Majda said the day helped highlight the importance of reducing tragedies by connecting people locally, nationally and internationally.
“Suicide is one of the leading causes of death for people in Australia between 18 and 44 years of age,” he said.
“Suicide is a complex issue but one important factor which needs to be addressed is the value of feeling connected, asking for help and offering the hand of support.”
