Association puts in for play space

FLOREAT Pre- primary has a new playground thanks to the hard work and fundraising of the Parents and Citizens Association.

The outdoor play space, which was developed with Nature Play Solutions, has sand boxes, swinging ropes and a working water pump, where previously there was just an empty grassed area.

The Association raised $33,000 for the 18-month project.

Penelope Melis from the Association said parents wanted a design that would improve children’s upper body strength.

“The whole area was just grass before this,” Mrs Melis said.

“Now there is more focused play and it’s a great start for their imagination. Kids can make mud - they enjoy that.”

With more than 70 children at the Pre-primary, it was important to parents that the new design allowed the children to spread out.

“There are different zones, so the kids can spread out,” Mrs Melis said.
