Walking up an appetite
SHARING food and the odd glass of wine has always been a central facet of family life for Justin Blackford and Jenny Della-Vedova.
So carrying it on into their working lives seemed like a natural progression.
Using their extensive ‘ foodie knowledge and experience, the aunt and nephew team have created Perth’s first interactive walking food tour, which focuses on independentlyowned and lesser-known vendors.
Mr Blackford said they hoped the new venture would provide locals and tourists with a unique and authentic Perth eating experience.
“It wasn’t until I lived overseas in the UK for a couple of years that I realised how truly special our multi- cultural food scene in Perth really is,” he said.
“It might not be as accessible as in world leading cities like Melbourne, London or New York, but we firmly believe that it can be every bit as exciting, interesting and tasty if you know where to look.
“Perth has come a long way in recent times so I think that it’s really important that people properly appreciate the awesome array of fantastic food available to them and the best way of doing this is getting out of the house and supporting the vendors that provide it.”
Food Loose’s International Food Adventure tour runs every Saturday from 10am-2pm at a cost of $39 per person.
It visits seven different eateries around Northbridge and the CBD.
