Song wins first place

Western Suburbs Weekly - - News -

WEMBLEY singer-songwriter Lori Greco has won first place for her song in the spiritual category the Australian Songwriting Association Awards.

Greco won the award for her song The Courage You Lack, which she says is an uplifting song rather than a religious song.

As well as the win, five of her songs made it into the top 10 of each category from more than 3000 entries. “I am pretty proud of that,” she said. “I was ecstatic to learn that I was also rewarded for songwriting excellence by my industry peers.

“These songs are from my latest album called No Ordinary Girl, which was funded by fans from all around the world and available on iTunes and www.lorigreco.com.”

Greco said the internet was a new frontier for musicians and made it easier to build a fan base than traditional methods.

A piano teacher at Newman College, she said being the only WA musician to win first place at the awards was an honour.
