Help Activ continue to provide vital services
JAMES Fitzthum has been using Activ’s respite services at the Variety Pelican Centre for several years. For the 14-year-old’s grandmother and primary carer Shirley, WA’s biggest non-for-profit disability service is invaluable. “It’s just me and James at home, and no kids around,” Ms Fitzthum said. “James needs that interaction with other people his age and he gets that at during his time at Activ’s respite services. “I see the joy in James’s face when he goes to Activ. He is so happy and relaxed, and as his grandmother I find that just wonderful. “At 70 years of age, I need time myself to recharge my batteries. “It’s great knowing that James is safe and really enjoys his time at Activ Respite. “Words can’t describe the positive impact Activ has had on both our lives.” To highlight their important work and to raise money for West Australians living with a disability like James, Activ has launched its 2014 Christmas Appeal.
