La Soiree arrives in Perth at last

Western Suburbs Weekly - - Stage - Tanya MacNaughton

LASoiree has been touring the world from New York to London for 10 years and will finally perform a Perth season as one of the must-see shows at Fringe World 2015.

Melbourne creative producer and host Brett Haylock said commitments to perform at Sydney Opera House the past three summers had prevented the cast from heading to WA for the growing event, and it was about time they played here.

“It’s an obvious fit as Fringe has presented a number of shows from our genre and, without boasting, La Soiree pioneered and came before a lot of them,” Haylock said. “We were a little show that was created as a midnight alternative cabaret 10 years ago for Edinburgh and then it just ignited.”

Bringing their own Spiegeltent to Fringe World’s Pleasure Garden, La Soiree’s troupe features cabaret, new burlesque, circus and contemporary vaudeville acts with a pinch of the exotic and erotic, from Bath Boy’s aerial gymnastics to strongmen The English Gents and rubber man Captain Frodo.

“In a world of manufactured talent with reality television, we present an evening of entertainment with extraordinary artists at their peak, doing extraordinary skills on a 2.5m round stage,” Haylock said.

“We took an age-old format of variety and sped and sexed it up a bit. These are unique

THE ESSENTIALS performances and can not be replicated by anyone else.”

Fringe World 2015 runs from January 23 to February 22.
