BURGLARY SUSPECTED BEFORE FIRE
POLICE will not comment on why they consider a fire that gutted the Korel Gardens, Swanbourne, home of Cullen winemaker Digby Cullen and his wife about 9.30am last Friday, to be suspicious.
“We will not confirm, in rela- tion to any other offences at the property,” Senior Sergeant Neil Morton-Smith said.
Mr Cullen said there could have been a break-in at the house before the fire, which is being investigated by the Arson Squad.
Neighbours reported smoke at the vacant home while Mr Cullen and his wife were away in the South-West, before fire fighters extinguished the blaze that caused damage between $500,000 and $1 million when it destroyed the home’s roof and a neighbouring granny flat.
